Oil Painting Still Life Workshop
Marci Oleszkiewicz (bio)
September 8 - 11
Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 4 pm
$295 non-members, $270 members
This workshop is for beginning and advanced students of all ages. We will have four days to complete two small paintings or one large painting. Beginning with initial thumbnail sketches to final paintings, students will learn the process of working out an idea into a finished painting. Learning from the still life is an excellent starting point to begin to see as a painter. It is also a challenge to the advanced student as they begin to see more, and experiment with different ways of approaching a painting. The focus will be on design and composition, as well as drawing, values, and edges. Students are encouraged to bring in their own still life objects to paint.

September 22 - 25, Monday - Thursday
9 am - 4 pm
Tuition: $300 members / $325 non-members
Open to All Levels.
In this workshop, we will practice traditional methods of pastel painting through direct observation out of doors. Through four days of painting including exercises in composition, massing abstract shapes, value relationships, color and controlling edges, students will be spending their time learning at the easel where Nature provides the greatest lessons. We will then use these sketches and work on larger pieces in the studio. The day begins with a short demo, then out to the field for painting practice, personal attention and guidance throughout the day. Our goal is to work at the process of learning to see and how to respond and interpret that vision into your own personal expression in pastel.
Transportation to various locations is needed. We can arrange carpooling if necessary. Supply list upon registration.
