DESCRIPTION:This drawing workshop is designed to empower students stepping outside their comfort zones and unlocking new levels of artistic expression by learning how to demystify their subjects. My approach emphasizes movement\, capturing the emotion\, and keen observation that extend beyond traditional portrait drawing techniques. \nI am excited to share this journey with enthusiastic artists who want to elevate their work to the next level. Artists of all skill levels\, and preferred medium are welcome. \n\n  \n\n\n\n\nSpecial Notes \n\nThere is a $50 non-refundable model fee.\nThis class will meet in our 3rd floor studio.\n\n\nRequired Supplies \n\nAny art supplies you prefer will be ok. Here is what I use: \n– Bristol Strathmore Vellum 300 or any other preferred drawing paper \n– Staedtler graphite pencils (2B\, 4H\, 6H\, 9H) or any other brand you like \n– Stabilo 8046 pencil \n– Charcoal pencils \n– Kneaded rubber eraser \n– Sharpener

SUMMARY:Class #182: The Portrait on Paper (A Tonal Approach) with Larry Paulsen
DESCRIPTION:Time : 6:30PM – 9:30PM CDT on Tue —\n\n\n\nFor centuries\, artists have utilized toned papers for both their aesthetic qualities as well as a shorthand means toward representing the wide spectrum of values observed in nature. \nStudents will learn the basic construction and landmarks of the head. Then they will quickly move on to the articulation of the individual features. Using both black pencils and white chalk\, students will learn to “key” their drawings\, making the most of the advantages these toned papers offer. \nThis class is designed to straddle the fence between painting and drawing. Students interested in a four-color approach to the portrait in watercolor are also invited. \nSpecial Notes \n\n$60 non-refundable model fee payable to the instructor.\nThis class meets in our second floor studio.\n\nRequired Supplies:\nDrawing Supply List\n\nOptional Watercolor Supply List
