6:30 PM – 9:00PM CDT on Mon. & Wed.This class is designed for anyone, including complete beginners, who would like to learn how to draw and paint in a systematic way, beginning with the most important and fundamental principles of visual art; how to Draw (light and form principles), how to create a convincing sense of space (Perspective), how to create an aesthetically meaningful composition (Design), and how to paint a painting that expresses harmonious color relation (*Color). This is a combined class of Fundamentals of Art 101 and 102.
*Fundaments of Art #102 is for those who have already taken #101 class as prerequisite. **Fundamentals of Art 101 class focuses on Drawing, Perspective and Design. Fundamentals of Art 102, while continuing to study these 3 fundamentals, covers Color theory and principles.
Learning Objectives through instruction and exercises students will:
1. Understand and implement the elements of Form under the light in order to create a convincing sense of realism in form.
2. Understand and employ Design principles in visual art making.
3. Understand and be able to utilize Perspective to create spatial illusion.
4. Develop competent skills in working with various media (pencil, pen & ink, monochromatic wash).Instructional methods: Class is comprised of instructor lecture, demonstration, drawing projects both in-class and at-home, and students working on projects independently with the guidance of the instructor. Class projects and exercises are done both from life and photo references.
