CityScape

Cityscape is not as mainstream in the contemporary American artworld as it used to be.  It was definitely an anomaly when the Museum of Contemporary Art acquired Kerry Marshall’s majestic view of a street in Bronzeville in 2003.   But if you visit Chicago exhibition spaces on a weekly basis, as I have done over the past 15 years, you would discover how often local artists paint their city – and that includes the weekday as well as weekend practitioners.  Some of my favorites are members of the Palette and Chisel Academy – but for this show I have gone outside the membership to draw in the broadest range of expression………… Chris Miller

Click HERE for a preview. Gallery hours are 11 am to 6 pm on weekdays and 12 to 5 pm on weekends.

As an addition to Cityscape Chicago the  Palette & Chisel has assembled a group of paintings to compliment Chris Miller’s vision. Our  cityscape “addenda” will highlight a sampling of historical works and selected plein air and member examples.  Added to Chris’s efforts a wide range of creatively diverse and interesting works will be on exhibit for all to enjoy.   For those interested in expanding their collection many works will be available for sale.
